AT A GLANCE
The November Copilot Credits Guide expands its SharePoint section to include OneDrive, distinguishing included everyday activity from advanced tasks that consume credits. A licence does not cover every AI workload. Large document reviews, complex workflows and repeated processing can add consumption charges; unused pre-purchased credits expire. Start with existing entitlements, test representative work, estimate the usage and set controls before an impressive automation becomes an impressive bill.
Microsoft has published the November 2026 Copilot Credits Guide, with this month’s update expanding the SharePoint section to include OneDrive.
The revised section explains which everyday activities are included with a Microsoft Copilot licence and which advanced tasks consume additional Copilot Credits. Large-scale document reviews, complex AI workflows and near real-time metadata processing can all bring consumption charges.
BUT..... having a Copilot licence does NOT mean every AI task is included!
Checking one document and repeatedly processing thousands of files are very different workloads..... even when both begin with an innocent-looking request!
The guide covers pay-as-you-go billing and an annual credit pre-purchase option. Buying ahead can attract discounts, but unused credits expire at the end of the annual term. Spending controls and usage reports are available..... somebody still needs to configure them and act on the results.
This is why companies MUST engage the experts when deciding how to combine licences and credits. Start with existing entitlements, identify the business processes worth improving, test representative workloads and estimate ongoing consumption. Then choose the purchasing approach, configure controls and train users.
